
Dr. Sharon Wirtz is a native Pittsburgher who graduated from Penn Hills High School, and Grove City College. Four years later she obtained her veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1976. Dr. Sharon married her husband/partner, Art, in 1973. They are blessed with wonderful twin daughters, Elaine and Andrea. Drs. Sharon and Art have dedicated themselves to quality pet care at Allegheny North Veterinary Hospital since buying the practice in 1981.
Dr. Sharon’s hobbies all involve being outdoors, gardening, hiking, biking, golfing, and traveling. Many different pets have resided with the Wirtz family over the years. Currently, Dr. Sharon’s favorite is Chile Pepper, her three year old Australian cattledog, who accompanies her on nursing home visits.
Sharon enjoys her volunteer work at Vincentian Nursing Home, Global Links International, and teaching CCD at St. John Neumann Church. She also loves to travel with Dr. Art to New Mexico twice a year to provide veterinary medicine to Native American. Currently they visit the Zuni Indians and Santo Domingo Indians.
